Lithuania Song & Dance Festival Tour 2024

Day 1 - Arrival to Vilnius

(Wednesday 3rd July 2024)

Our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and drive you to your hotel. It is a short drive to your hotel in Vilnius and you will soon be strolling the cobbled streets of old town or relaxing in a cafe or restaurant. Welcome to Vilnius!

Depending on your arrival time, you have time to start exploring Vilnius.

This evening you have tickets to attend the Ensembles' Evening “The Tree of Life”, held outdoors in Kalnu Park in Vilnius, what an atmosphere this will be! The power of song does not get much better than this, and the patriotic passion for the Lithuanian homeland fills the air and lifts the spirit. The venue is within easy walking distance of your hotel.

Day 2 - Exploring Vilnius

(Thursday 4th July 2024)

This morning you will have a leisurely Vilnius Walking Tour with a private guide (the tour lasts 3 hours). Our English-speaking guide will meet you in your hotel reception. This is a great way to get your bearings on your first day whilst discovering the main sights of Old Town. Our guide will bring Vilnius to life with their knowledge and stories (and hints and tips on where to sightsee independently or to eat and drink!)

This afternoon you will visit Trakai, a historic town not far from Vilnius and home to the iconic Trakai Castle; traverse the lake via the wooden bridges and explore the inner courtyard and exhibitions, before returning to the mainland and wandering the wooden house-lined streets of Trakai village and try a local 'kibinai'... look back to view Trakai Castle in all its splendour, a truly iconic Lithuanian view.

Day 3 - Dance Day at the Song & Dance Festival

(Friday 5th July 2024)

Dance Day at the Lithuanian Song Festival will be spectacular and thoroughly enjoyable! All those colourful costumes spinning around, traditional dress and traditional dances full of expression and stories... The finale will see over 9,000 dancers visualising the resistance of the nation, vitality and strength and power through dance, all in the name of Lithuania. Transfers to and from the hotel/venue are included.

Day 4 - Free time & procession

(Saturday 6th July 2024)

Witness (and join in!) the Participant Procession from Vilnius Cathedral Square to Vingis Park. The procession of the participants of the Song Festival is an event that gathers almost all the performers and creators of the Celebration. The city streets are flooded with thousands of cheerful singing and dancing participants, dressed in their best costumes complimented with decorations representing their regions, cities and countries. While walking, the participants interact with the crowds of spectators, pose for pictures, happily reflect on the events of the Celebration and prepare their voices and hearts for its grand finale, which starts as the whole river of the procession flows into the Vingis Park - the Song Day. If you would like to attend the Song Day finale event please ask for for details. Tickets for this are not included but are available on request.

Day 5 - End of the tour

(Sunday 7th July 2024)

To suit your departure flight, our driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport. Take home some wonderful memories of the Lithuanian song and dance festival!
