St Petersburg City Break
The wonderful city of St Petersburg is a must for the discerning city breaker. Hidden from western eyes for so long it now can be visited in all its splendour.

The Venice of the North...
Known as the Venice of the North this beautiful city sits like a jewel in Northern Russia. A St Petersburg City Break needs to be taken over at least 4 days. The first time we visited the city we marvelled at the stunning architectural. Ornate palaces reside on every corner, even the soviet buildings are so impressive in sheer size they take your breath away.

The main differences between the Baltic capitals and St Petersburg for a City Break are size and cost. St Petersburg is more expensive then the Baltic's. As Russia's second city you can expect to pay more for meals out and drinks. Secondly it is large, with a population of at least 5 million. The city sprawls. The main area of interest for tourists is the Historical centre, hotels within this part are expensive, but are a wonderful choice if your budget allows, as you are much nearer the main cultural sights. Even then walking between sights can take time, so take good walking shoes!

What to do on your St Petersburg city break
You can visit wonders such as the Hermitage Museum,Nevsky Prospect, Mariinsky Theatre, St Isaac's Cathedral, the great fortress of St Peter and St Paul, Peterhof, Catherine's Palace and the Church of the Spilt Blood are all not to be missed.

Within this astounding place as there are so many sights to see, the city breaker can easily enjoy at least three nights on your St Petersburg City Break.

Accommodation for your St Petersburg City Break.
Many hotels are then based in the city centre. Keep in mind that the centre city is large, those with a tighter budget can expect to be a 25 minute drive from the historic centre. The good news is these hotels often offer shuttle buses, or are next to the metro stations. To make life even easier we have some excellent trips you can book, with a guide and driver.

12 miles from St Petersburg is Catherine's Palace. This beautiful Palace is stunning and incredibly interesting. You will visit the stunning Amber Room, which was created in 1701 and lost during the Nazi occupation, it has taken 23 years to renovate and proudly re-opened in 2003.

All the arrangements went smoothly, our first guide Maria for our walking tour and the Hermitage was delightful, highly recommend her to any body, she was a pleasure to spend the day with & very helpful and informative, as also the second guide who took us to the Summer Palace. The Hotel was very comfortable and the staff helpful with our queries.

Mr D Harris July 2009

We are just back ...from St Petersburg... everything was FABULOUS! We did about a week's worth of sightseeing in 3 and a half days (possible only because it is light till 10.30 so we kept going and going and going...) The hotel was beautiful and the restaurants great and the ballet lovely and the city mind blowing and the art and architecture out of this world -- and we are so so grateful to you for organising it!
L. Maguire August 2007

We got back from St. Petersburg....it was an amazing 3 days ....iIt is such a beautiful city and so much to see that we were wishing that we had booked a week instead of 3 days!!
We had a really superb walking tour with the delightful Maria, her knowledge of her home city was very impressive.
